Miami - A Girls Destination
You’re probably wondering why I’m writing about Miami, considering that my blogs are inspired by the world wonders and intended to get people to travel abroad. The reality is that there is a lot to see in the USA as well, and a lot of it is massive fun.
I was also recently challenged by a friend to write about the best locations to go to on a “girls only” trip. Although I have taken various “girls only” trips, including to the Dominican Republic, Vegas, Bahamas and Mexico, Miami kept coming up as a consistent location.
I’ve been visiting Miami, primarily for long weekend trips, since my first spring break in college.

It’s a city that takes me back to my roots. It reminds me of my country Colombia, with its food, its people, its music and its language. Yes, its language. It’s where you see signs that say, “English is spoken here”. I love walking down the street and hearing authentic accents from Latin America, especially Colombia.
my favorite colombian restaurant in miami, la ventana
It’s the culture though, that keeps me going back. The tropical environment, the palm trees, the ocean, its festive atmosphere, it’s just all contagious!

There are few places in this world that I can say I have returned too and have had equal amounts of fun every time I’ve went. Miami provides this because of the variety of fun that it offers. It has amazing restaurant experiences, dance clubs tailored to different audiences, unique boutiques, hotels and rooftops that offer relaxation or party. Whatever type of fun you’re looking for, you can find.
For that reason, I've headed to Miami for important celebrations that require extreme amounts of fun, primarily bachelorette parties and my birthday. In all these events, we had amazing food, danced like crazy, but most importantly, laughed our butts off!

enjoyed some hooka (shisha), people watching and great music on ocean drive
had great sangria, music and tapas at a spanish restaurant in espanola way. It's miami's historic spanish village with great restaurants, entertainment and shopping.
Most recently, as I approach the end of my thirties, I’ve been feeling a need to celebrate my birthdays to the fullest. For that reason, we headed to Miami this year for the big 3-8! And again, Miami didn’t disappoint. We stayed right on Ocean Drive to be in the middle of the action and to be in-front of the beach. Ocean drive is a one-stop shop, surrounded by great restaurants, boutiques, hotels and clubs. Highly recommended for adults. Again, we eat amazing, danced like crazy and laughed our butt's off!
stayed at the beacon hotel, right on ocean drive
enjoyed the versace mansion on ocean drive
eat amazing at gianni, the restaurant in the versace mansion
and of course, enjoyed some beach fun!
went to the after-hour party at nikki beach
partied at club e11even. it's a 24 hour club (yes, it never closes) that offers trapeze dancers, burlesque shows, DJs & live music performances.
went salsa dancing at ball and chain. it's an conic nightclub from the 1930s-1950s that has Cuban-style music food & drink.
In addition to South Beach, Miami has other great neighborhoods like the artsy Wynwood area, the trendy Brickell neighborhood, or Coconut Grove and Coral Gabels. All these neighborhoods are great locations for the whole family with equally amazing restaurants, hotels and shopping and you get away from the craziness of South Beach.
enjoying the art at wyndwood walls
